Lisa’s Journey: From PAO Surgery to Performing Again
As a gymnast and dancer, my body is my instrument for expression and achievement. But when I was 17, everything changed. A dull ache in my hips progressed to a sharp pain that hindered basic movements. After seeing a specialist, I was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, which required surgery (PAO) to correct.

The day of the surgery was nerve-wracking, but I knew it was necessary for a pain-free life. The recovery was tough—I was on crutches, struggling to move. Frustration was constant, but I celebrated every small victory, from walking without crutches to low-impact exercises.

After 10 months, I returned to performing. My journey wasn’t easy, but it made me stronger, both mentally and physically. Now, I savor every moment on the gym floor, moving with freedom and less pain than ever. PAO was the right decision; it restored my passion and future. To anyone facing a similar path: recovery is hard, but it's worth it. Stay focused on your goals. You can come back stronger, too.
